Programming note... by birthday is this week so all of my posts are going to be short and sweet. I have a friend coming from out of town and lot of law school reading to do in the beginning of the week (cuz I plan on celebrating) to make up for the rest of the week. So... I will post my start ems on Wednesday... but not with the usual level of analysis. I hate to do this... but if you are looking for advice you can go to Lucas (even thou Steve appearently listened to Lucas this past week and sat Ronnie Brown).
So here is a short and sloppy review of the starts ems.
QB
Right -- Garrard, Anderson, Cutler, Edwards Wrong -- Campbell, Cassel, Manning Push -- Rivers (MNF) Total 4/7
RB
Right -- Turner, Jones, Gore, Graham, Ryan Wrong -- Jackson Push -- LT (MNF), Jacobs Total -- 5/6
WR
Right --Bowe, Edwards, Jackson Wrong -- Holt, Gage, White Push -- Chambers (MNF), Galloway (DNP) Total -- 3/6
I wish I had time to talk about week three. There were a bunch of great endings. But alas, my Torts book is calling. See you on Wednesday. Posted by

Best Waiver Pick ups this week:
1. Darren Sproles -- LT hurt? No way! Too bad no one saw that coming! 2. Brandon Jackson -- Ryan Grant is hobbled worth a flyer until Grant is back to 100% 3. John Carlson -- Carlson has been pretty consistent thru two weeks snagging 10 catches and putting up 12 points... good production for a TE in a year where a lot of TEs are disappointing (Alge Crumpler I'm looking at you!)
Start Em
QB Start of the Week: Jay Cutler. After the last few weeks who isn't starting Cutler? The problem with this week is that all the really bad D's are playing really bad teams (see St. Louis, Detroit, and Cleveland). Cutler is going up against the paltry Saint's pass D which gave up a robust 320+ yards to Jason Campbell. It will be hard to match Cutler's numbers for the first two weeks... but I expect him to continue his assault on opposing teams secondaries.
Best of the Rest: Matt Cassel (MIA), Philip Rivers (NYJ), and Trent Edwards (OAK)
Sit of the Week: Derek Anderson. The Brown are in an 0-2 hole and things just aren't getting any better. I actually feel a bit sorry for Anderson because he has had the pleasure of playing both Dallas and Pittsburgh and now has to go up against Baltimore. That is one hell of a way to start the season.
Worst of the Rest: David Garrard (Indy), Jason Campbell (Don't fall into the trap of starting him this week after a big week against NO -- Ari), Eli Manning (Cinci)
RB
Start of the Week: Brandon Jacobs. The Bengals are just bad. They can't score and they can't defend (giving up 203 ypg rushing thru the first three weeks). Surprisingly enough, however, the Bengals are in the top 5 for pass D. So look for the Giants to work their three headed rushing attack all game long as Jacob puts up 100+ yards and a TD or two early.
Best of the Rest: Michael Turner (KC), Julius Jones (STL), and Frank Gore (Det)
Sit of the Week: LT. LT is listed as questionable this week against the Jets... but reports out of SD are saying that he is going to play thru the pain. I don't like it. LT has looked miserable so far this year and is going up against the Jets stout run D (ranked 6th so far this year). Snag Sproles off the waiver wire and start him over LT this week.
Worst of the Rest: Steve Jackson (Sea), Earnest Graham (Chi), Ryan Grant (Dal)
WR
Start of the Week: Chris Chambers. Philip Rivers finally has that go to receiver he has been missing. Chambers is averaging a robust 15 ppg so far this year and seems to have taken over Gates role as go to guy in the Chargers O. The Jets D is ranks 17th but have gone up against Miami and the Brady-less Pats... so there is room for decline.
Best of the Rest: Torry Holt (What the hell? A Ram in the start em? -- Seattle), Dwayne Bowe (ATL), Justin Gage (Hou)
Sit of the Week: DeShaun Jackson. You think McNabb still trusts Jackson as much? Me neither. Philly is also going up against Pittsburgh who has surrendered just 184 ypg thru the air and only 1 TD. Jackson won't get the chance to showboat this week.
Worst of the Rest: Joey Galloway (Chi), Roddy White (KC), Braylon Edwards (BAL) Posted by

Week two is just about in the books and I have to say that there were a lot of unexpected results this Sunday. For me the most intriguing games were Indy at Minn, NO at Washington, and Chicago at Carolina. The Colts comeback was huge and left Minn. (My pre-season NFC champs) in an 0-2 hole. AP ran wild in the first half but the Vikes inability to put the ball in the endzone really killed (Thanks Tavaris Jackson). Washington had a huge comeback and broke out of their season long funk (I know its only week two but they were HORRIBLE in every preseason game). Jason Campbell really came out of his shell and had a huge game. Chicago and Carolina was probably one of the more boring games of the week but Carolina is 2-0 and they finally get Steve Smith back next week. With a good two headed RB situation and Smith coming back Carolina is in good shape (especially in a weak NFC south). FFL wise here are some of the biggest booms and busts for the week.
Boom:
Anquin Boldin -- 32 points Aaron Rodgers -- 31 points Kurt Warner -- 32 points Darren McFadden -- 22 points Jon Stewart -- 19 points
Bust:
Derek Anderson -- 2 points Carson Palmer -- 1 point Larry Johnson -- 2 points Michael Turner -- 4 points Randy Moss -- 2 points
A quick rundown of my start ems this week...
QBs
Right -- Eli Manning, Jay Cutler, Kurt Warner, Hasselbeck, Bulger, Anderson, Palmer Wrong -- Delhomme Total -- 7/8
RBs
Right -- Reggie Bush, Laurence Maroney, Jamal Lewis, Thomas Jones Wrong -- Ryan Grant, Joe Addai Push -- Willis McGahee, Brandon Jacobs Total -- 4 or 5/7
WRs
Right -- Plax Burress, Donald Driver, Hines Ward, Jerricho Cotchery (Pats pass D did look pretty shoddy), Roddy White Wrong -- Joey Galloway, Lee Evans, Eddie Royal Total -- 5/8
Overall for week 2 -- 16 or 17/23 or 70 or 73% so I was slightly better this week than last.
In terms of the QB pick off Lucas went 0-2 today since Cutler was the highest scoring QB this week. While Rivers had a good game w 33 points he didn't quite match Cutlers 38. I'm giving him a pass on Vince Young (even thou he did score 0 points today -- you can't help my fantasy team if you are injured). So the total score there sits at 1-5 with the sole victory comes from Rivers last week. To be fair... Rivers and Cutler have been two of the best FFL QBs thru two weeks... Cutler has just been slightly better.
Another small development to keep in the back of your mind is LT and his turf toe injury... LT hurt? Sounds familiar? Well its only week two but LT has a total of 13 points... I'll keep you posted. Posted by
